The importance of student engagement, progress and attainment
Good teaching is, of course, essential for student success in core subjects – english, maths and science. However, it is especially important for students with special educational needs (SEN). These students require additional support and accommodations in order to fully participate in their education and reach their full potential.
One of the key benefits of good teaching resources are that they help students to better understand and retain new information. This is particularly important in core subjects, as these subjects often build upon foundational concepts and require a strong understanding in order to progress. Effective teaching methods, such as using hands-on activities and visual aids, can help students to more easily grasp complex concepts and retain what they have learned.
Good teaching is imperative for students with SEN, as it can provide them with the support and accommodations they need to succeed. This may include modifications to the curriculum, such as providing additional explanations or breaking tasks down into smaller steps, as well as the use of assistive technology or other resources. By providing this support, teachers can help SEN students to better understand and engage with the material, improving their academic performance and overall well-being.
In addition to supporting student learning, good teaching can also help to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment. This is especially important for SEN students, who may feel isolated or excluded in a traditional classroom setting. By creating a welcoming and supportive environment, teachers can help all students to feel valued and included, improving their overall sense of belonging and well-being.
Effective teaching methods and resources are also important for developing critical thinking skills and encouraging students to take an active role in their own learning. By posing thought-provoking questions and encouraging students to explore different perspectives, teachers can help students to develop their own ideas and opinions, and to think more deeply about the subject matter. This is especially important in English and Science, where the ability to analyse and interpret information is key.
Overall, the importance of good teaching resources and technology cannot be overstated and is essential for student success and well-being. By providing the support and accommodations that students with SEN need, and fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, teachers can help all students to reach their full potential and succeed in their studies.
It is therefore crucial that schools have high quality teaching and learning resources for their students, and extra support for SEN students. In light of this, we are delighted to be hosting a showcase on January 10th focusing specifically on the topics of Literacy, Numeracy, Science & SEND.
